What Will 2024 Hold?
We’re excited to shift our focus forward to some of our favourite trends and predictions for 2024!
Our Favourite 2024 Trends
As we really get into 2024 over the next few months, we’re excited to selectively bring some of these trends, and some we aren’t even aware of yet, into our homes and closets in a way that is intentional.
01. Striking Motifs
Each year we see new shapes, figures, and emblems gain popularity. Some of these trends remain a rose-tinted memory even after they fade away, while others haunt us for years to come (the words owl and necklace will trigger any millennial).
In 2024, the bow trend will only increase in popularity, don’t be surprised to find bows on handbags, clothing, jewelry, hair accessories, and home decor. We expect similar motifs to pop up alongside this trend, adorable little cherubs, ruffles, and lace lend themselves to balletcore, royalcore, and French vibes, which will be big this year. Preppy is another trend gaining in popularity, leading to an increase in tennis motifs this year and gingham and stripe patterns.
02. A Change of Colour
Pantone is at the forefront of the “colour of the year” trend and this year they’ve selected peach fuzz, “a velvety gentle peach whose all-embracing spirit enriches heart, mind, and body”. While Pantone’s pick almost always has a significant impact on trends for the year, warmer hues have been gaining in popularity for a while now, and we don’t see that changing soon! Rich browns and ballerina pinks will be go-to neutrals in the world of fashion and home decor, alongside the return of leopard print!
Although we’re expecting to see a general warming for most colours – think warm plum, chartreuse, clay, and camel – when it comes to makeup, expect things to get chilly! Blue makeup, particularly eye makeup is predicted to make some major gains in 2024, alongside chrome, metallic, and frosted finishes.
03. Form and Function
When we look at the world of fashion in 2024, we’re seeing a shift towards layered looks, voluminous silhouettes, and chunky accessories. Get ready to see Y2K utilitarian looks return in the form of cargo pants and handbags, square necklines, muted tones, denim, and mixed metals. As more and more people embrace the quiet luxury aesthetic, bold jewellery and layered accessories will be used to add interest and personality to this minimalist style.
04. Sustainability
While conscious consumerism has made huge leaps over the past few years, seeing sustainable clothing and home decor options become a major trend has helped promote the cause even more. Thrifting unique fits, buying from slow fashion companies, and altering your own clothes to mix up your current closet are all great ways to help reduce our impact.
Vintage and pre-loved clothing continues to be a go-to approach for unique, one-of-a-kind looks, with aesthetics like eclectic grandpa embracing the imperfection of second-hand pieces. Within this vein, pre-loved sweaters, denim, and 90s styles are as popular as ever. We’re also seeing secondhand fur coats gain popularity, especially when styled for a grunge look.
05. Our Favourite Trend
The #1 trend that we are excited about… for you to be you! Each year trend cycles get shorter and shorter, and thanks to social media, micro trends are becoming more and more prevalent. It can be hard to keep up – so don’t.
While trends are a great form of inspiration, being truly, 100%, unapologetically, yourself should always be your number one goal.
Thanks For Reading!
Not all of these trends are going to work for everyone, but we’d love to hear what you think! What’s YOUR favourite trend for 2024? What did we miss?
